The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree is the terminal degree in nursing for practice. Doctor of Nursing Practice graduates are prepared at the highest level of practice and are prepared to serve in advanced clinical and leadership positions.
*The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master’s degree program in nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Rhode Island College are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
The Nursing DNP program at Rhode Island College is aligned with the Doctor of Nursing Practice essentials (AACN, 2006). By attaining doctoral level competencies in these areas, students are prepared to participate as full scholars in the effective translation of evidence into practice and achievement of optimal outcomes at the patient, population and system levels.
Nursing education at the Master’s level offers opportunities to specialize in Adult/Gerontology Acute Care, Nurse Anesthesia, and Population/Public Health Nursing. Within the Adult/Gerontology Acute Care option, nurses may choose to prepare for either the Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist (AGACCNS) or the Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) role.

For those with a bachelor's degree in nursing, this Certificate of Graduate Studies (C.G.S.) in nursing care management was designed to meet a rapidly emerging need in health care; that of preparing nurses for nurse care/case manager positions across a variety of health care settings.
